Do you ever wake up in the morning and just feel that today is going to be a bad day or just simply something bad is going to happen? Well that’s your gut feeling. And this arises from our intuition.

But do you ever think about why do we get this heart drop each time or whether we should listen to this feeling of ours?

Personally, it’s just nerve-racking how when you know something bad MAY happen but you just don’t know when, what and how?

A basic definition of our intuition could be the ability to understand something instinctively without the need for conscious reasoning. It is a fact that intuition can indeed be learnt. But how far we shall believe this ‘gut feeling’ is debatable.

Keep in mind that instincts are different from intuition. Our instinct is not exactly feeling, but rather automatic reactions to certain things in our surroundings that cannot be repressed and occur in every individual. As a matter of fact, not everyone has an intuition; some people may even be more intuitive than others.

Where does our intuition come from?

Researchers have aligned our intuition with the powers of match-making. That is, similar experiences are stored in the long term memory and when time comes by and similarities are found; that’s when your intuition will warn you about certain stuff.

let’s take for example; you had a friend in the past but the relationship was way too toxic. If by any chance in the future, you happen to meet another similar person, and that person reminds you of them; your mind will send you a negative gut feeling. And through that, you’ll want to distance yourself. But this may not be necessarily true and your gut feeling may not be always right. So when exactly should you listen to your gut feeling?

When to trust your intuition?

Humans tend to attach a certain degree of certainty to their intuition. They tend to be more accurate in certain situations that others; such as first impressions and first love. It is often said that intuition is valuable in detecting deception and other forms of danger.

Although, it needs to be brought to light that, our intuition is not always right as i mentioned. It is altered by many different factors which themselves may always be true or completely reliable.

Intuition is a thinking style. Different people have various ways that they use their intuition and psychologists say that some people are more intuitive than others. This is mainly because they have more experience in varying situations and have a stronger memory and as such that’s where they acquire a certain level of expertise in being intuitive. We can also almost say that, it co-relates a bit with instincts.

How are we using intuition in Artificial Intelligence?

we have had major progress with AI in the last decade and now scientists are trying to implement intuition in the new generation of AI. No major information has been given on this but within the next decade we may surely have human robots that can actually feel.

( I do not know if this is scary or exciting)

Conclusion

People may certainly improve their intuition; but let’s just not wish for it to be through a bad experience. Meanwhile, if your gut feeling is too strong about something; might as well listen to it than regretting later on.
